Hi, I'm Katie (she/her), and I took this picture in my bedroom during our last minute self-timered Christmas card photoshoot.
On December 25th, 2014, I found out I was unexpectedly pregnant. Wait, what?! Yeah, that's quite the Christmas present. I was nervous, excited and terrified to say the least. That was the first day of the journey that would lead to my undeniable passion for birth work. I spent the next 9 months doing everything I could to feel educated about my options and supported in a way that made me feel empowered and excited to give birth.
On August 28th, 2015, my water broke while getting a massage and 7 hours after feeling my first contraction I lifted my daughter to my chest, feeling immense love, pride and power. This day was the best day of my life and solidified my passion for the process of childbirth and the innate power of our bodies.
Five months later, I quit my corporate job, trained as a birth doula and childbirth educator, and never once looked back. I truly feel blessed to support, educate and document such an epic journey for my clients.
I live in West Seattle with my husband, our two kiddos (yup, we had another one) and our taiwanese street dog, Finn. I love wine, sailing, traveling adventures, skiing, trashy reality TV and geeking out on all things relating to birth. And because I know you're wondering, my last name is pronounced like meringue - "doh-mang."

BIRTH DOULA
My intention as a doula is to support the birthing person and their partner/mother/sister/friends. Whatever that looks like in the moment. Often this means helping you navigate your options, sharing evidence based information, and normalizing the birth process. Other times it means talking you through a contraction, helping to get your baby into an ideal birthing position, or giving you the best double hip squeeze you've ever had. I'm here for you now, and I'll still be here for you after your baby arrives.
My birth doula services include two prenatal visits, unlimited texts/calls/emails, 24hr on call from 38 weeks until baby's arrival, one postpartum visit, and a few photos from your birth. Rates start at $1800.

BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY
Giving birth is one of the most magical, transformative things you will ever do. In fact, it's so magical that you likely won't remember most of the details. I document your birth day quietly, as it organically unfolds. My background as a doula gives me helpful insight that allows me to capture small details and big moments, while working around your medical and support team in whatever environment you choose. You are about to do the most amazing thing of your entire life, so why not let me capture it?
Birth photography services include one prenatal meeting, 24hr on call from 38 weeks until baby's arrival, and a digital gallery of 75-100 hand edited images. Rates start at $1000.
CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION
I've created a 6-7 hour customized childbirth class that I teach in the comfort of your own home. Yup, that's right. No weird conference rooms full of strangers and no question too embarrassing to ask. My class combines evidence based information and practices with a little intuition and a lot of fun. We will cover everything from pregnancy through postpartum and baby care (and everything in between). My goal is for you to leave my class feeling knowledgable, empowered, and supported.
Classes start at $300 per couple. Discounts offered to doula clients, groups, and teen/single parents.
